Aves Pygostylia Ornithothoraces Hongshanornithidae

Die Vögel aus der Familie der Hongshanornithidae waren kleine Vögel mit relativ langen Beinen. Vermutlich waren sie Watvögel, obwohl sie dafür eigentlich nach heutigen Maßstäben etwas zu klein waren. Die Gruppe wurde im Jahr von den Wissenschaftlern O'Connor, Gao und Chiappe im Jahr 2010 definiert als bestehend aus dem letzten gemeinsamen Vorfahren von Hongshanornis longicresta und Longicrusavis houi und all deren Nachkommen.
